Seneca’s Kynley Laughlin – Cheer Spotlight – Presented by John Cotten Roofing

There’s something unmistakable about the energy that radiates from Kynley Laughlin when she talks about cheer. “I’m in tenth grade and I have cheered since I was eight years old,” she said. That early start has shaped her into one of Seneca High School’s standout athletes, known for her skill, confidence, and dedication on the mat.

“This season has had a lot of ups and downs but overall, it has been really great!” Kynley said, reflecting on her sophomore year. Despite the challenges, her positive outlook has remained constant—a trait that makes her a strong presence both in practice and during competitions.

Her athletic strengths are easy to spot, and her improvement this year is something she takes great pride in. “I am a tumbler and a flyer, and I feel like I have improved a lot on those skills,” she said.

Kynley credits the atmosphere at her school for helping her grow as both a student and an athlete. “Something that makes Seneca High School great is the environment with all of my friends and also the teachers/coaches,” she said. That supportive network has helped her build confidence and stay focused on her goals.

Teamwork is a big part of cheer, and Kynley makes sure to celebrate her teammates’ accomplishments, too. “A teammate that impressed me was Haleigh Garret whenever she stepped up to be a base whenever we needed her,” she said.

When it comes to competition days, Kynley keeps her nerves in check with a steady routine. “I mentally prepare myself for competition but try to stay calm and listen to my music and make sure I am physically focused.”

As for what’s next, Kynley has a clear vision for her future. “The goal for life after high school is to continue my cheering career in college.”

Her inspiration keeps her grounded and motivated. “Someone that inspires me is Cody Keys.”

And when it comes to accomplishments, she beams with pride. “The accomplishments that I am most proud of is All American and also receiving Top All State Tumbler last year at state.”
