Park Hills Central’s Silas Richardson – Football Spotlight – Presented by Shelter Insurance

Silas Richardson – Park Hills Central

For Park Hills Central, the tone of most drives was set long before the snap—by where No. 73 lined up. Junior lineman Silas Richardson, a 6-foot-4, 270-pound force who rarely left the field, anchored both sides of the line and gave the Rebels a physical edge at the point of attack. Offense or defense, short yardage or long drive, his presence dictated how games were played in the trenches.

Head coach Kory Schweiss spelled out just how important Richardson has become. “Silas has been a dominant player for us for the past couple of years. He is junior that is 6’4, 270 that plays both OL and DL and plays 95% of the snaps. When we need a yard, everyone in the stadium knows where we are going… behind Silas. He is the best OL that we’ve had in sometime as he does everything well. As far as defense, teams have to plan their offensive gameplan around him, so we try our best to move him around to make it difficult to avoid him. He’s also been our team leader.”

That description captures both his workload and his impact. Playing roughly 95 percent of the snaps in the trenches is rare at any level, and Richardson still manages to be a dominant run blocker, a reliable protector, and a disruptive defensive lineman who forces opponents to change their schemes. When Central needs a crucial yard, everyone knows the ball is going behind him—and it usually works. Add in his role as a team leader, and Silas Richardson is more than just a cornerstone lineman; he is the foundation of how Park Hills Central wants to play football.
