Eldon’s Britton Ahart – Southeast Missouri Fan’s Choice Mr. Basketball – Presented by Shelter Insurance

At Eldon High School, senior Britton Ahart has built his reputation on consistency, discipline, and a quiet drive to improve every single day. A two-sport athlete competing in basketball and track and field, Ahart has become a cornerstone of his school’s athletic success, helping lead the Mustangs to one of their most memorable seasons in recent history.

“I am self-motivated, always trying to better myself and get a little better every day.”

That mindset showed throughout the past year, especially on the basketball court. Ahart played a key role in guiding his team to a Stover Tournament championship and the program’s winningest season in over a decade. But for him, the impact goes beyond wins and losses. Wearing an Eldon uniform carries a deeper meaning rooted in community pride.

“Representing my team means a lot to me, but it’s more like repping my community, not just the team. Community is everything, and being able to be a role model for the younger generation is something like no other.”

Ahart’s foundation was built early, shaped by family and strengthened by the influence of coaches who pushed him both physically and mentally. His father, in particular, has been a steady guide throughout his life.

“My dad is my biggest role model because he has shaped me into who I am. He has taught me work ethic and discipline.”

That support system extends to every corner of his life, from family members who never miss a game, whether in person or watching from afar, to coaches who have helped him stay grounded through challenges.

“My family has always been my number one supporter. Showing up to all my games throughout my career and always repping our last name.”

When adversity hits, Ahart leans on another key figure in his journey, his coach.

“For me, when things get tough, Coach Taylor is my motivation. He can tell when things are rough for me mentally, and he is always in my corner, ready to fight with me against whatever challenge I’m facing.”

That relationship has been central to his growth, both as an athlete and as a person.

“My coaches have been a huge part of my development because they have kept me going no matter what. They have worked with me and my mental side very well, never allowing me to let my emotions get the best of me.”

As Ahart’s high school career comes to a close, his legacy is already clear. He leaves behind not just wins and accolades, but an example of discipline, resilience, and pride in representing something bigger than himself.
