BATTLE HIGH SCHOOL SPARTANS
Missouri Football Player Nominations
Battle High School, led by head coach Shawn Gaines, showcases impact playmakers on both sides of the ball in its 2026 nominations. In the secondary, defensive back Zenel Vaughn is coming off a standout junior season in which he led the team with 63 total tackles and tied for the team lead with two interceptions. His performance earned him All-Conference and All-District honors at defensive back, underscoring his importance to the Spartans’ defense. Vaughn’s ability to support the run, cover in space and make plays on the ball makes him a true tone-setter in the back end.
On offense, Battle is excited about the growth of receiver Peyton Lipich, who is poised for a breakout year as a junior. As a sophomore, Lipich posted 20 receptions for 205 yards and two touchdowns in just five games, hinting at his potential as a reliable target and big-play threat. Gaines believes that with more experience and opportunities, Lipich can become one of the Spartans’ primary offensive weapons in 2026. Together, Vaughn’s proven production and accolades on defense and Lipich’s emerging playmaking ability on offense give Battle a strong core of skill talent as the program looks to take another step forward.
