Joplin’s Brecken Green – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by The Law Firm of Webster & Carlton

By Angela Brunk

As a senior at Joplin High School, Brecken Green has become a standout both academically and athletically. A dual-sport athlete, Green plays for the basketball team as a shooting guard in the winter months and takes the mound as a pitcher for the baseball team during the spring. Whether he’s making shots or throwing strikes, his focus remains the same, to be the best player he can and make his family and friends proud.

Green credits much of his motivation to his strong support system. “All my family members are influential in my life because they all do so much for me to make me the best player I can be,” he says. Among the many people who have influenced him, Coach Wolf stands out on top. “Coach Wolf has always believed in me and pushed me to be my best,” Green shares, reflecting on the coach’s lasting impact on his athletic career.

One of the highlights of Green’s journey came last season when the Joplin baseball team won their district championship, an unforgettable moment fueled by dedication and team effort. For Green, the key to success has been consistency. “Always showing up and wanting to be there. That’s what makes the difference,” he says.

Off the court and field, Green is just as driven. He’s a member of the National Honor Society, Fusion, FCA, and serves as a Joplin High School Ambassador. After graduation, he plans to attend college and major in business and finance, with aspirations of building a successful future beyond athletics.

What truly sets Green apart is his passion for representing his school and community. “I love playing in front of everyone and having little kids look up to me,” he says. With his leadership, hard work, and humble attitude, Brecken Green continues to set a strong example for the next generation of Joplin athletes.
