Q&A with Olivia Emery – Neosho Softball – Presented by Uplink

VYPE: What grade are you in this year, how long have you been playing and what

position do you play?

Olivia Emery: I am a senior; I play pitcher and outfielder. I first started playing softball in a little league held by Neosho when I was 3. I loved it then, but I didn’t start to develop a passion for it until I was picked to play for the All-stars team.

VYPE: How would you describe the team’s chemistry this season?

OE: We have all grown up together and understand each other. I would describe our team to have a strong bond and genuine care for each other and others successes.

VYPE: What clubs and campus activities are you involved with?

OE: I am involved in student council, national honors society, key club, freshman mentorship and FBLA.

VYPE: What are your goals and hopes for this season?

OE: I hope to win our conference again this year and play in the district championship.

VYPE: Who are some of your biggest influences or role models? Why?

OE: My mom is my biggest role model. She shows me the importance of hard work every day.

VYPE: What are your plans after graduating from high school? Are you considering playing sports in high school?

OE: I hope to play softball in college after high school while I work towards a degree to eventually work in the medical field.

VYPE: What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of sports?

OE: When I am not playing sports, I love to kayak and hike. My family has always been very outdoorsy, and I’ve grown to love doing anything involving being out in nature.

VYPE: Is there anyone you’d like to thank for supporting you throughout your

journey?

OE: I am very thankful for the support my family has shown me. I would consider my grandparents and mom to be my biggest supporters. They have always helped me in any way they can and have provided an unwavering source of support throughout my journey.

VYPE: What advice would you give to younger players aspiring to play in high school

sports?

OE: I would tell younger players to value having fun playing softball. Enjoying the sport you play is the most important part of the game.
