Hardin-Central junior Brody Fifer is a true example of what it means to be a well-rounded student-athlete. Competing in football, basketball, and track, Fifer has made an impact across multiple sports while also staying heavily involved in campus activities and community life.
On the football field, Fifer fills a variety of roles, playing quarterback, defensive back, kicker, punter, and returner for the Norborne Hardin-Central Co-op. His versatility and leadership have made him a key piece of the program, but for Fifer, success starts with his faith.
“What motivates me the most is knowing that no matter what I go through, the Lord is always with me,” he said. “That gives me confidence to keep pushing forward and not give up, because I know I’m never alone.”
Fifer credits his parents as his biggest role models, admiring the respect they show to everyone they meet. He also points to Coach Watson as a major influence, noting that his coach “cares about me as a person, not just as an athlete. He pushes me to succeed on the field, but he also helps me grow off the field.”
The highlight of Fifer’s career so far has been the overwhelming support he has received this season from his family, friends, and community. “It’s been amazing to feel that encouragement and know that people are behind me,” he said.
A fierce competitor in practice, Fifer especially enjoys lining up against teammate Kaden McGinnins, an all-state track athlete whose speed forces him to elevate his game. He also made sure to recognize teammate Jake McMillan, calling him one of the most underappreciated players on the team for the way he sharpens the defense in practice each week.
Off the field, Fifer is just as committed. He is involved in the Future Farmers of America, Future Business Leaders of America, Film Club, Student Council, National Honor Society, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Remarkably, he has managed to balance all of this while choosing to go through high school without social media, taking on a challenge his parents once bet him he couldn’t accomplish.
For Fifer, representing Hardin-Central and the co-op with Norborne, where he also gets the opportunity to play alongside his cousin, Zach Deitch, is a responsibility he takes to heart. “Playing for my school and community means a lot,” he said. “I want to make them proud every time I step on the field.”
