Carthage High School senior baseball player and student-athlete Nolan Brown spoke to VYPE SPORTS in a recent interview.
VYPE SPORTS: What are your personal goals for the year?
Brown: As always, the goal for the season should be to win a championship. But overall, my goal is to go out and play as hard as I can every appearance I get. Each night I want to go out and perform to the best of my abilities for the good of the team.
VYPE SPORTS: What is your favorite memory about your association with this team?
Brown: There are many. My favorite memories are of every time we are in a locker room as a team. My best memories are of just hanging out with my boys and having a great time. Whether it’s before a game or before practice, there’s nothing like just hanging out having a good time.
VYPE SPORTS: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Brown: I would say that the seniors on this team have had the biggest impact on me because they fight for each other and me. We fought through adversity together, which is what has made our team what it is today.
VYPE SPORTS: What is your favorite part of being a part of this team?
Brown: My favorite part about this team has to be how we go into every game expecting to win. There’s not a thought in our brains that we can’t beat any team we face.
VYPE SPORTS: What clubs, community groups, or campus groups are you involved with and why?
Brown: I’ve been really involved with baseball and football. Playing with both of those teams has felt like being a part of one big family. They have been a great support system.
VYPE SPORTS: What accolades (in any sport or non-athletic activity) are you most proud of?
Brown: I’m proud of every win our team has had and every game that we have been in.
VYPE SPORTS: What has this sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Brown: Baseball has taught me that there are wins in life and there are losses in life, but the good thing about baseball is that you always get to go out and play the next day. It’s just like in life; there’s always tomorrow.
VYPE SPORTS: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
Brown: The best pitch you can throw is a strike.
VYPE SPORTS: Who inspires you and why?
Brown: The guys around me on this team inspire me, because no matter what, if any of them are in a slump or not throwing like they want, they still always come to the field the next day ready to get better.
VYPE SPORTS: Here is your chance to give a shout out or say thank you to anyone you wish.
Brown: I want to say thank you to all my coaches and teammates for making baseball fun and making the best out of the four years we have had together.
