VYPE: What grade are you in this year and when did you get your start in cheer? Jacie Bard: I am a junior, and I have been cheering for Seneca since 3rd grade.
VYPE: How has this season gone for you and the team?
JB: It’s hard to get to the top, but it’s even harder to stay there. This season has brought challenges, but I’ve had a blast with the team working to be better than ever. I am so proud of this season.
VYPE: What are the strengths of your skill set and what did you improve on this year?
JB: Being an upperclassman this year has allowed me to develop stronger leadership skills. I strive to be a steady, uplifting voice for the team.
VYPE: What makes Seneca HS a great place to be a student-athlete?
JB: Seneca is the best place to be a student-athlete. Every teacher and student is so involved and supportive of each sport. The small-town atmosphere is something I’ll never take for granted.
VYPE: Which teammate impressed you this season?
JB: I have been so impressed by Kynley Laughlin this season. She has worked so hard and handles the pressure of her difficult skills incredibly well. No matter what, she throws every skill.
VYPE: How do you mentally prepare yourself for competition?
JB: Before each competition, I play our music and visualize the routine hitting perfectly. Prior to each routine, I get to pray over the team and performance. Seeing the team come together and give everything to God makes everything worth it.
VYPE: What do you love most about your teammates?
JB: I love this team’s ability to have fun. We are constantly laughing and creating jokes with each other, it helps keep attitudes positive when it gets hard.
VYPE: What’s the goal for life after high school?
JB: After high school, I hope to attend a university and study business law!
VYPE: Who inspires you? My dad is someone who inspires me most. I see him put his all into his career, spending countless hours at work. No matter what, he always shows up to watch and support me. I aspire to be the hard worker he is.
VYPE: What accomplishment are you most proud of? One of my proudest accomplishments is being on the team that made SVC history as 4-peat state champions. Individually, my proudest accomplishment was being named Top All-State back spot, as well as being an All-American cheerleader last year.
