Every season offers a fresh beginning, and for Seneca senior Olivia Haase, this year is all about becoming better—together. As she puts it, “My personal goals are to grow as a team and to be better than last year.” That team-first mentality has shaped her approach as both a leader and a competitor.
Olivia says the atmosphere around the program has been nothing but positive. “The team morale has been great!” And that energy has fueled real progress on the court. “The biggest improvement is just us working as a better team,” she said. With that growth comes a clear set of shared goals. “The team’s goals this year is to just get closer as a family and to have a better record than last year.”
If there’s a defining trait for this Seneca squad, Olivia knows exactly what it is. “The team’s biggest strength right now I would have to say our defense.” As the team’s point guard, she’s right in the middle of that identity. “I play point guard,” she said, and when it comes to reading defenses, she focuses on anticipation and disruption: “I look for where the ball is going to be going and trying to get a steal.”
Game preparation for Olivia starts long before tipoff. “I prepare myself by listening to music,” she said, a simple routine that gets her locked in. But once she steps onto the floor, her mindset sharpens: “My mindset is to go out and play like it could be your last game.”
Olivia also knows how she hopes her time at Seneca will be remembered. “I want my legacy at Seneca to be remembered as a good teammate.” Her favorite memory so far reflects that love for team bonding and shared experiences. “My favorite memory would have to be when we go on our Brandon trip every summer.”
Balancing multiple sports, Olivia stays active year-round. “I am involved in basketball and volleyball.” And while she gives everything to her high school career, she’s already planning for life beyond it. “My plans after high school is to become a nurse.”
Olivia Haase represents Seneca with determination, heart, and a commitment to her teammates—qualities that will follow her far beyond the basketball court.
