Webb City’s Karsen Myers – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Kyle Hickam State Farm

What does it take to chase a championship every single day? For Karsen Myers, the answer has been consistent effort, versatility and an unwavering focus on the ultimate goal as he enters his senior season with the Webb City High School baseball program.

Myers’ mindset is simple and direct: win a state championship. That goal drives everything he and his teammates do, from offseason workouts to daily routines at practice. Team morale has been strong throughout the year, with a close-knit group that genuinely enjoys competing alongside one another. That chemistry has helped fuel steady growth across the roster.

One of the biggest areas of improvement for Webb City has been at the plate. Hitting was a weakness a season ago, but Myers believes the team has taken noticeable steps forward. Extra time in the cages and a commitment to individual improvement have made a difference, as players continue putting in work on their own with the shared goal of finishing the season on top.

Defense has emerged as one of the team’s biggest strengths. With confidence in every position — from the outfield to the infield and behind the plate — Webb City prides itself on being reliable and sound defensively. That trust allows players like Myers to settle into whatever role is needed.

Versatility defines Myers’ impact. Last season alone, he filled multiple positions, including third base, second base, left field and right field. He approaches the game as someone willing to do whatever benefits the team most. Offensively, he takes pride in finding ways to reach base, whether that comes from a hit, a walk or wearing a pitch.

At the plate, Myers is a situational thinker. He starts by checking the third baseman to see if a bunt opportunity is available, then scans the outfield to recognize any shifts. Preparation stays consistent no matter the opponent, with the same warmup routines, hitting work and in-and-out drills setting the tone before first pitch.

Once the game begins, Myers’ focus is on maximizing every opportunity — making every possible play on defense, getting on base any way he can and being aggressive on the basepaths by looking to steal second whenever the chance is there.

He hopes his legacy reflects selflessness, wanting to be remembered as a teammate who did whatever was asked, even when it wasn’t glamorous. One moment that stands out is last season’s district championship win against Carl Junction, a milestone achievement for the program.

After graduation, Karsen Myers plans to attend Pittsburg State University.
